Today I was in the lab from 8-12 and was scheduled to run Love participants from 8:30-10:30 and MARS from 10:30-11:30, however no participants signed up for any of the slots. I spent my time finishing up the boredom article and working on meta-analysis.

Happy Thursday everybody!  I hope your GRE studying sessions are going well for those of you who plan on taking it soon!  I ran one Mars study that went very well!  I also read most of the chapter on boredom for our discussion that will be happening this upcoming Monday.  I only have a little bit of the chapter left to read, so that is great!  In addition, I restarted all of the computers in our area as my end of my lab shift task.  I calculated my hours banked from last semester and I have 13.5 extra hours!  I think I will save them for toward the end of the semester just in case I get sick or for a rainy day; you never know what life is going to throw your way.  I hope everyone has a great weekend!

Today I came into lab from 11:30am-3:30pm. For the first two hours, I ran four participants for Love. All of them went well except during the third one, another experimenter tried to open the door to go into the room because they got the numbers mixed up. The door was locked so they couldn’t get in but it might have startled the participant. During the last two hours of my shift I counted consent forms, updated the GRE word of the day, and worked on meta-analysis. Overall, lab went well today.

Wednesday (2/14/18)

Yesterday, prior to my 11 A.M. to 2:30 P.M. lab shift, I came to the lab to attempt some different tests in SPSS on the Mars data. I didn’t have much luck, but I did learn how to use special, or specific, cases in SPSS. I ran one session of the Mars study with two participants, which everything went smoothly. Afterwards, I kept attempting how to correctly analyze the Mars data. Wan ended up showing me some tests he was doing to analyze the data. I went to my class at 3 P.M. and came back to the lab at 4:30 P.M. From then till 7 P.M. I worked on analyzing the data and making charts next to Wan in case I had questions; Wan was working on the Mars data too for his presentation.

Thursday (2/15/18)

Today I came to lab a little early, about 8 A.M., to vacuum the reception room before everyone got here. I was here for my whole lab shift, 8:30 A.M. to 12 P.M. I was scheduled to run three sessions of the Love study, but only two of the sessions had participants signed-up. I ran the first participant at 9 A.M. and the second at 10 A.M. Between the two sessions, I remained on that side of the building to finish making my to do list, keep reading this book over motivation—which should help me with my project, and be prepared for the second participant. After that Hadiya, Zari, and I watched Wan practice his presentation. Then I sent a screenshot of the instructions in the Mars to Wan so that he could add it to his power point. I will more than likely come back to lab between 2 P.M. and 4 P.M. to keep working on the analyzing the Mars data and making my power point for the URS Symposium.

Today I was in lab from 9-11am and had a Meta-analysis meeting with Ken at 11:30 regarding the new changes added to the projects protocol. Because I was unable to continue working on the meta-analysis without knowledge of the new changes I read the Boredom article during my coding hours. I also forgot to add my coding hour from last week therefore I’m adding it to this post.

Hours from last week: 1
