Today I came into lab from 8:00-5:00. From 8:00-12:00, I had my normal lab hours. I ran two NSF participants at 8:00 and 9:00. Both of these went well except my second participant was very slow and was unable to finish both the pre-screening questions and the second survey. At 10:00 I was supposed to run participants for the Mars study but there was no one signed up so instead I coded. Zari had a great suggestion to resolve the issue we came across with the meta-analysis so we were able to continue working on that. I then ran a final NSF participant at 11:00 before running Wan’s study from 12:00-5:00. I ran 6 participants for the love study and the rest were no shows. All of these participants ran smoothly. One participant asked what the other videos were and I wasn’t sure if we were allowed to tell participants after the debrief so I just said “I can’t tell you.” Other than that it went well. During my final hour I did not have any participants so I continued with my coding task. It was a full day but lab was great!!

Yesterday, I came into lab for an hour to train for the Love Study since we are starting the actual study this week. I have included this in the total hour count for the week. Today I came into lab from 12:30 – 5:00. From 12:30 – 2:00 I ran participants for Wan’s Love Study; only one participant showed up for this study so I had two no-shows. At 2:00 I had my coding hour, but since I still haven’t heard the solution for the meta-analysis problem from Ken, I worked on other coding tasks. Consent forms hadn’t been counted in about two weeks so I caught up on those. I then ran two participants at 3:00 and 4:00 for the NSF study. When the first participant read her rejection letter, she said “that’s okay” with a disappointed connotation. I accidentally smiled in response to this before continuing with the protocol. Besides that everything went well today.

I was in the lab from 2-3 today. I ran NSF. The participant started 15 minutes after the hour because the computer was installing updates. She still finished in time though!

Today I was in lab from 12 P.M. to 3 P.M. I ran the NSF study for the first two hours and both of my participants showed up. Towards the end of the second survey, my first participant began looking around everywhere like they were finished with the survey. I ended up walking in on them while they were finishing the second survey. So I left and came back in the room when they finished. Furthermore, I accidentally hit the shut down button next to the log off button, which caused the computer begin running up dates. This made the next participant start late, but they were still able to finish in time. On top of this my one participant for the Mars study didn’t show up. It wasn’t a good day.
