It is extremely important that you be aware of your fellow students in the lab. If you are coding or running a study be aware of how many copies are left. If we are running low, that is the time to let someone know. The best response is to walk by my office (call first if you want) and bring the form to make copies. The next best is to email both Regina and I to let us know. I am often in the building and can make copies immediately. The third best response is to call or text message. There is no reason that someone should not be able to code or that we should be getting phone calls or text messages at 8 am or earlier informing us that we’re out of copies. Also, everyone was trained to do two things during coding times in the lab. If you are not able to work on one for any reason, you should work on the other.
In the lab from 1-4. I did 2 more articles, but I’ve got a few questions on outcomes and emotion checks for the 2 articles I just did. Other than that, I feel I got everything down right.
It’s Wednesday afternoon, and I am finished coding for the day. I aced my health test (woooo hoooo) and was able to start coding at 2 instead of 3, and now I’m heading home!
I got the next 3 studies lined up for the meeting friday! I also saved the 6 paragraph passages on the computer so we can just print them out when we need to use them. I started the next study but I still need to do a little research to find the video and article they used in their study. Everything went well!
2/15: I coded data from 8 to 9 to finish putting in those two extra hours. I then ran the new gambling study from 11:30 to 12:30 and it didn’t go so well the first time. The second time the computer closed down the blackjack program, BUT it was going well. We then had our meeting and took a picture.
2/19: I ran experiments from 12:30 to 1:30 they both went smoothly.
2/20: I am coding data from 8 to 9 then running experiments from 11:15 to 1:15
Hope everyone’s week is off to a good start, which it ought to be thanks to the beautiful weather! This morning (9am-11) I ran 4, count em, 4 subjects total over two hours, which was thrilling. This after I sit baking in the sun in the lab, which is nice, I got out of class early, so I coded from 3 to 4, now I’m OUT!
After six years of website hosting with ipowerweb.com recent developments have discouraged me from continuing with them. I have been researching different companies for the last two months and have decided to go with dreamhost.com for a couple of reasons. First and what I believe to be the most important is they are carbon neutral. DreamHost purchases Renewable Energy Credits and invests in Emission Reduction Credits (certificate). The proceeds of these credit purchases are then put toward funding further emission reduction and renewable energy projects. Second, the company approaches the business differently and I believe that it will lead to better load times and a more reliable website. Third, they are actually cheaper and offer more features, some of which will better fit our future plans.
I am working hard to minimize the impact you will feel and see during the transition but I will ask Heather to put a log book in the lab for now and I will ask you to fill out in addition to the blog for the time being (should only be a week). This impact, I hope, will be less than what has been happening lately with the current company.
Although we are not on the new hosting yet, I have purchased the space and I am in the process of moving the files and databases over.
no one signed up for my experiments today – i waited until 1:30 to make sure no one signed up for the second one at the last minute but they didn’t also, i did a tiny bit of coding since i was here anyway.
